I had the privilege of being interviewed by the fabulously talented Veronica Belmont on her show Mahalo Daily. We talked about publishing your own book on the Internets. I’ve done that twice, and if you’re not careful, I’ll do it again.
TWiT 133: The Jonathan Coulton lovefest
Jonathan Coulton joined Leo, Veronica Belmont, Merlin Mann, Ryan Block and me on Leo’s TWit podcast. We tried not to sound too sycophantic. But JC is just awesome, so sue us. Not literally.
KALW: Cell Hell
Was luck enough to be invited on KALW’s “Your Call” show yesterday to talk Cell Phones with host Sandip Roy, Bill Nusbaum of the Utilities Reform Network (TURN) and Tom Klein from phonedog.com.
We got off on regulatory policy, the 700 MHz spectrum, and of course cell phone contracts. I love KALW. You can catch the show on their blog at this link.
Amateur Traveler Podcast – Barcelona
Chris the podcaster gave the opportunity to chat about Barcelona on his excellent Amateur Traveler podcast. We had a wide-ranging dicussion about architecture, getting around in Spanish and more. Take a listen and subscribe if you like travel!

Had a good time as part of the Loop on Attack of the Show this afternoon. Had a great discussion with Kevin, one of the hosts of Attack of the Show and Catherine Holahan from Business Week.
TWiT 127: CES wrap-up -most fun I’ve had
I’ve had the honor of being on a few episodes of This Week in Tech, but the latest episode was the most fun I’ve had. We got into CES of course, but also the High-def wars, and the Gizmodo prank. Great stuff.
Quoted: Christian Science Monitor
A few quotes of mine appeared in a recent Christian Science Monitor article on printer ink.
“What I’ve found over the past few years is that ink itself is a very good commodity to be in,” says Tom Merritt, executive editor of CNET, a technology news and reviews website based in San Francisco.
“I tried one of the home kits,” says Mr. Merritt. “But it just turned into a sloppy mess. I’ll probably not use them again.”
“I’ve found that if you just pop them out and put the cartridge back in as if it were new, you can usually trick the printer into using the same one,” says CNET’s Merritt. “Or, if you really do a lot of printing, consider a laser printer.”

Snowmen Hunters: I killed their show
Molly Wood and I got the honor of being cast in the final episode of the long-running hit Internet show “Snowmen Hunters” which I am very sad to see go. It was a blast, and I really want to thank Chris for letting us participate. Plus I don’t think it’s too surprising that after having us in it, they’ve decided never to make another episode again.
Watch the episode entitled “You’re ice cubes BITCH!!!“
NPR Talk of the Nation: Science Friday!
I was really excited and flattered to hear the folks at NPR’s Talk of the Nation wanted me to appear on their Science Friday show. I was on today talking with Ira about my Top 5 2008 tech predictions.
Here’s a link to the writeup on their website. The audio is there too.
View From the Bay – Stocking Stuffers
Just got back form a fun segment about cheap tech stocking0-stuffers on ABC-7’s View from the Bay in San Francisco. We talked about the Shuffle, V-Moda Vibe headphones, and a few others.
They’ll have the video up soon at their site, here.
